These waffles start with a classic waffle mix to make them super easy to whip together. Then, just add a little molasses for that classic gingerbread flavor and some warm fall spices to really take these waffles from plain, to the ultimate holiday breakfast!





These waffles are light and fluffy inside, full of warm spices and crispy on the outside.



I like to serve them nice and warm with my cream cheese glaze (my favorite part) drizzled all over the top.



Enjoy on Christmas morning, or as a fun winter time dessert!




Gingerbread Waffles
Prep Time: 5 min
Total Time: 20 min
Servings: 6 waffles

Ingredients

Gingerbread Waffles:
  • 3 cups Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice or cloves
  • 1/4 cup molasses

Cream Cheese Glaze:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick/2 oz) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or water, or as needed



Directions
Waffles:
Whisk together waffle mix, water, eggs, oil, spices and molasses together until smooth. Let batter stand 2-5 minutes. Heat and lightly grease waffle iron. Pour about 2/3 cup batter onto waffle iron. Cook waffles 3-4 minutes until cooked through, or follow waffle iron manufacturer’s cooking instructions.

Cream Cheese Glaze:
Beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla, powdered sugar and water or milk, beating until thin and creamy. Add extra liquid as needed until desired pourable consistency is reached. Drizzle glaze over waffles.
