Have turkey for dessert this Thanksgiving! These adorable little turkey pops are made of chocolate, marshmallow and fruity candy. After making my Turkey Cupcake Toppers and my cute little Turkey Bites I wanted to make a turkey pop unlike any of the candy corn feathered friends all over the internet. Check out the simple tutorial and "gobble" them up ;)
Candy Marshmallow Turkey Pops
You will need
- Marshmallows
- Cocoa candy melts or milk chocolate chips
- Tootsie Rolls
- Fruit Slice jellies
- Pastel sequin confetti sprinkles
- Black edible marker, or food coloring and a toothpick
- lollipop sticks
Directions
Melt candy melts or chocolate chips according to package. Push lollipop stick into the rounded side of a marshmallow. Dip marshmallow into melted chocolate until fully coated. Gently tap the stick on the side of the bowl to let any excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. Stick pops in a Styrofoam block to dry, or anything you can find around the house (like an upside down egg carton) to make them stand up straight. (You can also just lay them on the flat side of the marshmallow on wax paper. Place in the refrigerator to dry.
Create the head of your turkey. Roll a tootsie roll into a log using the warmth of your hands, or microwave for just a few seconds to soften. Roll the top over to create a rounded head. Pinch the bottom flat, to attach to the flat side of the marshmallow body, seamlessly.
Make the wings out of a second tootsie roll. Roll tootsie into small balls. Flatten balls and form into a tear drop shape.
For the plumage (back feathers), use the red, orange and yellow candies from a bag of fruit slice jellies. You can use the other colors too if you like.
Cut each fruit slice, from top to bottom, into 3 slices.
Flatten each slice on a plate of sugar to prevent sticking.
Repeat this process with the orange and yellow slices, making them progressively smaller.
Layer the slices, pinching the corners together so the three become one piece.
For the waddles, beaks, and legs. Use small pieces of red and yellow fruit slices and roll between your fingers to create each shape.
Use the white sprinkles from the pastel sequin confetti sprinkles for they eyes. Attach to the tootsie roll head with your melted chocolate. Draw on the pupils using edible black marker.
Assemble your turkey, using melted chocolate to attach each piece.

You can individually wrap your pops in clear plastic bags tied with ribbon, or you can create a display for your pops. To create a display that your pops can stand upright in, take a block of Styrofoam and wrap it in festive wrapping paper or tissue paper.
