Graduation Teddy Bear Marshmallow Pops

Give this years graduates something sweet for their sweet accomplishment. These cute little teddy bears are made completely out of marshmallows with gumdrop hats and licorice accents so they are 100% edible! They are simple to make and are just adorable!

I used the same technique for these teddy pops as I did for my Valentine Teddy Marshmallow Pops, except I added a touch of cocoa to make them stand out against the white diploma.

Graduation Teddy Bear Marshmallow Pops

You will need
  • lollipop sticks
  • regular size marshmallows and mini marshmallows
  • cocoa powder or cinnamon
  • black edible marker (or black food coloring and a fine tip paintbrush/toothpick)
  • black licorice gummy bears/gumdrops, for hat (or gumdrops/fruit chews in color of your choice)
  • red licorice rope, for tassel and diploma ribbon (or gumdrops/fruit chews in color of your choice rolled into thin ropes)
  • Melted chocolate chips or candy melts to attach limbs and accents

Push the lollipop stick all the way through the flat bottom of the first marshmallow and out the top, leaving an inch of stick above the top of the marshmallow. Take the second marshmallow and flip it on its side with the flat side facing forward. Push it through the stick on top of the first marshmallow, without piercing the stick through the top for the head.

Using your melted chocolate, attach the mini marshmallows, flat side facing forward, to make ears, arms, and legs. Smash the last mini marshmallow with the flat ends between your thumb and index finger until flat, and attach it to the bottom of the face to form a snout. Let chocolate dry.

Roll your teddy in cocoa powder or cinnamon until completely coated. If chocolate does not cover the entire bear you can dip the marshmallows in water and then coat until brown.

Using your black edible ink pen, draw on a face.

Your teddy bears are now ready for graduation!

Create some marshmallow diplomas by cutting a marshmallow in half lengthwise. Cut the center out of each half creating a thin rectangle/square shape. Roll it up, cut side facing inwards. Tie shut with red licorice rope or gumdrops/fruit chews in color of your choice rolled into thin ropes. Attach diploma with melted chocolate to the chest of your teddy bear.

For the grad hat you can use black licorice gummy bears/gumdrops or gumdrops/fruit chews in color of your choice. If you can't find the black licorice bears, any gumdrop, fruit chew, tootsie roll, or moldable candy will work to create a grad hat. I cut the gummy bear in half lengthwise and used the flat back of the bear to create the square top of the hat and rolled the other half of the gummy bear into the base of the hat. Attach the top of the hat to the base with melted chocolate and add a tassel made of red licorice rope or gumdrops/fruit chews in color of your choice rolled into thin ropes and attach to the top of your bear's head with melted chocolate.

Place a clear sandwich bag over the teddies and tie ribbon around the stick to seal. You can even create a display for your pops. To create a display that your pops can stand upright in, take a block of Styrofoam and wrap it in festive wrapping paper or tissue paper. Push the bottom of each stick into the styrofoam for guests to easily grab and enjoy.
