THE BEST Homemade Waffles from Scratch

Light and crispy waffles, made from scratch!

Homemade Waffles

Servings: 6 waffles

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs, separated, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat waffle iron. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, egg yolks, melted butter and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients. 

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently fold into batter.

Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour about 2/3 cup batter onto waffle iron. Cook waffles 3-4 minutes until cooked through, or follow waffle iron manufacturer’s cooking instructions.
