{VIDEO} Edible Funfetti Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

The ultimate cookie dough that's safe to eat raw. This sweet, rich cookie dough has real cake mix and sprinkles mixed right in, to give it that buttery cake batter flavor, and is loaded with semisweet and white chocolate chips.

So, when I started seeing the raw cookie dough trend all over the internet, I wanted to create a really fun over-the-top flavor. This stuff is like a combination of the best things in life, chocolate chip cookies dough and funfetti cake batter.

The dry cake mix makes the dough taste just like cake batter, so I added sprinkles to funfetti-ify it and white chocolate chips to give it a hint of that frosting flavor, but it still has that comforting chocolate chip cookie dough taste and texture.

If you're anything like me, you've probably had your fair share of getting your little fingers into the raw cookie dough, before they make their way to the oven, or licking the beaters after scooping the cake batter into the pans. Something about eating raw dough or cake batter is just like the best part.

But, I can always hear my mom in my head telling me "don't eat that raw, you can get sick!". So I made sure, this stuff is safe to eat raw. There's no raw eggs in the recipe and we're heat treating the flour to make sure it's safe to eat raw, for the ultimate guilty pleasure. The trick is to just microwave the flour and cake mix to 160°F, to kill off anything that can make you sick so it's safe to eat raw.

You can scoop this stuff into a cone or cup and eat it like ice cream, or roll it into tiny little balls and freeze them, for a popable little treat...

Or you can do what I did and use it as filling for little chocolate cookie dough cups, stuff it into cupcakes... Or if you're a true cookie dough lover, make sure you don't miss next week's video because I'm using this stuff to make my No-Bake Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pie.

Funfetti Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Yield: 9 large scoops

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour, heat treated
  • 1 cup cup dry yellow cake mix, heat treated
  • ½ cup (1 stick/4oz.) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup confetti sprinkles
Whisk flour and cake mix together in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at 30 second intervals, whisking after each interval, until flour mixture reaches 160 degrees F, about 1-2 minutes. Place in freezer to cool.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar on medium speed, until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add vanilla, salt and sweetened condensed milk. Scrape down sides and bottom of bowl. On low speed, gradually add the flour/cake mix mixture until fully combined. Fold in chocolate chips and sprinkles.
