If you love the idea of turning classic snacks into holiday magic, this Healthy Reindeer Snack is my new favorite. It’s a playful twist on “ants on a log,” and it’s perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, or even older kids who like to help in the kitchen.
Not only is it festive and fun to assemble, but it’s also healthy and kid-friendly. Using celery, seed butter instead of peanut butter (great for nut allergies!), raisins, pretzels, and a bright red raspberry for the nose makes it colorful, interactive, and completely edible. Plus, kids love the idea of “building” their own reindeer on snack day.
This snack is ideal for holiday parties, school events, or just a silly afternoon at home. It’s one of those little moments that feels magical for kids and gives parents a healthy alternative to sugar-laden treats.
Materials You’ll Need
-
Celery stalks
-
Nut-free seed butter (sunflower seed or pumpkin seed butter)
-
Raisins (for the eyes)
-
Mini pretzels (for ears)
-
Raspberries (for the nose)
-
Optional: small spreader knife or spoon
How To Make Them
1. Prep the Celery
Wash and cut your celery stalks into snack-sized pieces. Lay them on a plate or tray for easy assembly.
2. Spread the Seed Butter
Using a small knife or spoon, fill the celery groove with seed butter. This acts as the “glue” to hold the reindeer features in place.
3. Add the Eyes and Nose
Place two raisins near the top for eyes and a bright red raspberry at the tip for the nose. You can adjust placement to give each reindeer a unique expression.
4. Add the Ears
Stick a mini pretzel on each side near the top of the celery for reindeer ears.
5. Enjoy
Serve immediately, or keep in the fridge until snack time. Kids can help assemble their own reindeer, making this a hands-on holiday activity as well as a healthy treat.
✨ These Healthy Reindeer Snacks are simple, affordable, allergy-friendly, and festive. They’re the perfect way to make snack time part of your holiday magic. Kids can play, build, and then eat their creation — all in one fun, healthy activity.
