Caramel Chew Pumpkin Pops

I first introduced my original, caramel pop idea, when I made my Caramel Chew Red Apple Pops and Inside Out Caramel "Apples", also perfect for Fall! My apple themed pops are coated in chocolate flavored with apple flavoring oil for a fun flavor combination. To take these pumpkin pops to the next level, try making them with my 10 Minute Spiced Pumpkin Caramels, for a pumpkin flavored caramel center!

Caramel Chew Pumpkin Pops

You will need
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Caramel squares/chews (store bought) -OR- 10 Minute Spiced Pumpkin Caramels Recipe
  • Orange Candy Melts (found in the cake decorating/candy making aisle of most craft stores)
  • Tootsie rolls (stem)

Directions

Choose to either use a bag of store bought caramels, or make a batch of 10 Minute Spiced Pumpkin Caramels for pumpkin flavored pops!

-OR-

Using the warmth of your hands, roll three caramels into a ball, or roll homemade pumpkin spice caramel into about 1" balls. Push the lollipop stick into the caramel ball, making sure not to push it all the way through the top. Create stems out of tootsie roll (you may need to microwave tootsie roll for a few seconds until pliable).

Form caramel into a pumpkin shape, using a lollipop stick to create creases from the top to the bottom.

Melt orange candy melts according to package. Dip caramel pumpkins into bowl of candy melts. Gently tap the stick on the side of the bowl to let any excess candy coating fall back into the bowl. While candy coating is still wet, attach your tootsie roll stem (you can even create a stem out of a piece of your caramel candy or use a piece of pretzel stick). Stick pops in a Styrofoam block to dry, or anything you can find around the house (like an upside down egg carton) to make them stand up straight. Place in the refrigerator to dry and set. You can even make little "Pumpkin Bites" without the lollipop stick!

You can individually wrap your pops in clear plastic bags tied with ribbon, or you can create a display for your pops. To create a display that your pops can stand upright in, take a block of Styrofoam and wrap it in festive wrapping paper or tissue paper. Push the bottom of each stick into the styrofoam for guests to easily grab and enjoy. Perfect for school parties, an Autumn get-together, or Thanksgiving dinner!
