Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Waffles

Light and crispy waffles, packed with warm cinnamon flavor and sweet brown sugar!


These start with a classic waffle recipe, then, just add a little cinnamon and swap white sugar for brown, for that warm fall flavor to really take these waffles from plain, to the ultimate holiday breakfast!





They're light and fluffy inside, full of warm spices and crispy on the outside. Top them with honey, maple syrup, or a simple vanilla glaze!




Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Waffles

Servings: 6 waffles

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs, separated, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat waffle iron. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, egg yolks, melted butter and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients. 

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into batter.

Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour about 2/3 cup batter onto waffle iron. Cook waffles 3-4 minutes until cooked through, or follow waffle iron manufacturer’s cooking instructions.
