These no-bake pops are made of marshmallows, candy accents and candy melts. They are
super easy, inexpensive, and as fun to make as they are to eat. They
are a perfect St. Patrick's Day party treat and a real crowd pleaser!
Leprechaun Hat Marshmallow Pops
You will need
- lollipop sticks
- Marshmallows
- Round cookies (I used Nilla Wafers)
- Green candy melts (available in the baking/candy aisle of most arts and crafts stores)
- Black licorice rope (or tootsie rolls rolled into a long rope if you don't like licorice)
- Mini yellow M&M's or yellow candy for the buckle
Directions
Melt
green candy melts according to package. Attach the cookie to the bottom
if the marshmallow with green candy melts and let dry. Gently push the
lollipop stick through the cookie and marshmallow (make sure not to poke
it all the way through). Dip into bowl of green candy melts. Gently tap
the stick on the side of the bowl to let any excess chocolate fall back
into the bowl. (I stick my pops in a Styrofoam block to dry, but
anything you can find to make them stand up straight will work. You can
also just lay them on their side on wax paper if you don't mind the back
side getting flattened.)
Once
the green has dried, "glue" the black licorice rope around the brim of
the hat and attach a mini yellow M&M with the melted green
chocolate. (If you don't care for the taste of licorice, you can take a
tootsie roll and microwave it for a few seconds until pliable. Roll it
into a rope and attach it in place of the licorice.)
How could I resist making a little leprechaun, with all these leprechaun hats?! Check out my Girl Scout Cookie Pops tutorial
for step by step instructions on making the leprechaun (I made him the
same way as the red headed Girl Scout, and by taking the "hair do" and
flipping it over into a beard she transformed into a leprechaun!). Note:
Make hat without stick and attach it to the head with candy melts. (Cut
off the top part of his head with a sharp knife to make a flat surface
to rest the hat on.)
You can individually wrap your pops in clear plastic bags for a party
favor, or you can create a display for your pops. To create a
display that your pops can stand upright in, take a block of Styrofoam
and wrap it in festive wrapping paper or tissue paper. Push the bottom
of each stick into the styrofoam for guests to easily grab and
enjoy.
